The Texas Junior College Student Government Association is the only student maintained organization in the state that works to promote the cause of community college students at the local, regional, state and national level. We are composed of over 72 member colleges across the state.
The member colleges are divided into six regional districts drawn at the county level. These regions meet at fall and annual conventions to coordinate activities and to help plan the state convention. We are Region One.

Constitution Day is in September every year. It is a day to stop and reflect on what our forefathers thought were important for an independent nation and the words that were put to paper that encouraged the fight for independence and defined our nation.
Preamble to the Constitution of the United States of America
We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
We have not included the constitution but have included a website address with the constitution and other related documents. http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/constitution_transcript.html
Below are quotes of character from some of the individuals that were elected to serve the United States of America.
“I hope I shall always possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain what I consider the most enviable of all titles, the character of an "Honest Man.” George Washington
“Do you want to know who you are? Don't ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you.” Thomas Jefferson
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.”
John Quincy Adams
“I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives. I like to see a man live so that his place will be proud of him.” Abraham Lincoln

The next legislative session starts in January. But it is not too early to start talking to your elected State Representatives and Senators to make sure they know the important roles that our colleges play in the economic system of Texas. Encourage them to increase financial support for our alma maters!
